Gata is a working village: ground-floor houses with a *cámara* above, courtyards, and neighbours who know each other. Work here arrives by recommendation, which is a stronger incentive to do it properly than any advertising.

What we are asked for is the everyday: a dripping tap, sockets that have stopped working, persiana straps, furniture assembly and kitchen repairs. Small jobs that other trades won’t take on because they don’t pay.

One practical tip: if you have three or four things outstanding, put them together in one visit. It’s one trip instead of four, and the van time is better used for both of us.
